Physiotherapeutic Scoliosis Specific Exercises based on Schroth delivered in a group
Group therapy
Group Therapy is "Physiotherapeutic Scoliosis Specific Exercise Therapy" (PSSE) based on Schroth principles, delivered in a group setting, the program still remains tailored to each individual and their curve. It is a great cost-effective way to build from your one on one therapy sessions, continue to improve your technique and integrate the concepts of correction into exercise. It also helps improve results, maintains a routine with your program for long-term management, and is a great way to meet others on a similar journey and build a support network.
Our group therapy is taken by only experienced Physiotherapists with training in PSSE, sessions are up to 1 instructor to 4 people, and is taken in our start of the art space fitted with specific equipment including Schroth ladders, poles, trunk positioning props to bring alignment to the spine.

Group therapy focuses on your individual three-dimensional scoliosis-specific exercise program using the following techniques:
-
Elongation: Lengthen the spine towards neutral, sometimes using traction straps and ladders to assist
-
Corrective Breathing/Expansion Techniques: Open up areas of the ribs that are constrained due to the scoliosis.
-
De-torsioning: Using wedges and props to assist the spine towards neutral
-
Strengthening: Improving strength in your new and improved alignment which helps to manage and treat pain, increase function and quality of life
-
Integration into functional movements and life activities

We offer in-person and online group classes for patients with scoliosis and kyphosis, classes are age appropriate.

Sessions are only to be joined after you have attended Initial assessment and completed a minimum of 3 one-on-one sessions.
Groups are claimable on private health insurance.
